DCOTA

The Design Centers of the Americas building logo was created to allow for a design intent pixilated effect when lit, these letters feature clear weatherproof covers and a custom paint finish simulating stainless steel.

About the DCOTA Project

When The Design Center of the Americas, (DCOTA) decided to rebrand the largest to-the-trade design campus of its kind located in Dania Beach, FL, Gulf Coast Signs of Sarasota, Inc., was engaged to bring the design concept to fruition. The primary challenge was to maintain the design intent of the 42” thin stroke open face stainless steel logo letter forms and their pixilated LED illumination and to do so with a limited budget. The solution was a high end paint coating identified by the Gulf Coast Signs team that would maintain the look of stainless steel and perform in the south Florida elements but allow for aluminum to be used for fabrication. A prototype was created and delivered to the south Florida facility where the local management team and the designer inspected and recommended approval prior to forwarding the prototype to the New York City headquarters where the final approval was secured. The custom fabricated channel letter signs now grace the top floor elevation of the signature campus building.

The success of the initial project gave ownership the confidence to move forward with a second phase of the rebranding, the construction of a man made berm along the border of their property into which Gulf Coast Signs installed a custom designed and engineered support system and the installation of a 7’ set of this same style DCOTA open channel letters orientated for aerial and northbound I-95 viewing.
